How to Use the Leaders Tab

The Leaders tab answers the rotation question: which sectors and stocks are leading the market right now? It ranks all 11 SPDR sector ETFs against the S&P 500 using a 0–100 relative-strength score.

Always trade in the strongest sectors

Use the Leaders tab to choose your fishing pond first — then the Charting tab to pick your fish. A breakout in a leading sector has higher follow-through than the same setup in a lagging sector.

Sector RS scores and the 11 SPDR ETFs

Each of the 11 sector ETFs (XLK, XLY, XLI, XLF, XLV, XLC, XLE, XLB, XLRE, XLU, XLP) gets a 0–100 score based on its performance relative to SPY over a rolling one-month period. Defensive sectors (XLU, XLP) leading = risk-off. Cyclical/growth sectors (XLK, XLY) leading = risk-on.

Stock leaders list (50d > 200d filter)

The stock leaders list is filtered to confirmed uptrends (50-day SMA above 200-day SMA), then scored by relative strength vs SPY. Each stock also shows a Leadership Score (0–100) — the same composite score used on the Charting and Gainers/Losers tabs. Scores above 70 mark genuine market leaders.

Emerging Leaders

Stocks beginning to show leadership characteristics before reaching the top of the main list. Early-cycle candidates with more risk but also more upside potential.
